Understanding COPD

COPD used to be something we rarely heard about unless we knew someone who suffered from it. How much do you know about COPD? Check your
COPD IQ.

1. COPD stands for:

  1. Corrosive Outdoor Petroleum Disease
  2. Can’t Overeat Pie a la mode Disease
  3. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease


Answer: C. COPD is a lung disease that can limit your airflow. It has been linked to lung cancer. COPD can be diagnosed in adults as early as their 20s and 30s, and diagnosis in people in their 40s is on the rise.


2. The leading cause of COPD is:

  1. Eating too much turkey and dressing
  2. Cigarette Smoking
  3. Using poor grammar


Answer: B. Most people who have COPD either smoke or used to smoke. Long-term exposure to other lung irritants such as air pollution, chemical fumes or dust, may also contribute to COPD.


3. What are the symptoms of COPD?
